How to Blow Up a Pipeline
Andreas Malm
New piece, and it's a two-fer! I wrote about #Renfield, which I mostly disliked despite a fun Nicolas Cage performance. I also reviewed #HowToBlowUpAPipeline, which I liked very much, even if part of me wanted a bit more excitement. Movies! https://t.co/NY04KUEzxP

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.
Judy Blume
I wrote about Kelly Fremon Craig's adaptation of Judy Blume's ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME, MARGARET, which I found a little generic, a lot charming, and a mite scary. It's pretty good, but it could give you nightmares. Review: #AreYouThereGodItsMeMargaret https://t.co/4tf2h6NVgA

The Banshees of Inisherin
Martin McDonagh
One thing I prize in filmmaking is personality. So I wrote about three movies—James Gray's ARMAGEDDON TIME, Charlotte Wells' AFTERSUN, and Martin McDonagh's THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN—and how they felt like intimate messages from their authors. 11/12 https://t.co/YyrW3VuKgN

Why?: The Process And Results
Anthony W. Taylor
Sure, Ke Huy Quan is a lock, but will Best Supporting Actress be Bassett or Curtis? Why did the Academy ignore Anthony Hopkins? And did I really argue that yet *another* Oscar should have gone to Anya Taylor-Joy? #Oscars https://t.co/MS8wFdEK9I

Oppenheimer: The Official Screenplay
Christopher Nolan
My thoughts on Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER being rated R is that the MPA is a blight on cinema which needs to be eradicated.

The Gospel of the Hold Steady: How a Resurrection Really Feels
The Hold Steady
Like, if I were to make a Hold Steady top 15, it'd probably include 4-5 closers ("Killer Parties," "How a Resurrection Really Feels," "Slapped Actress," "A Slight Discomfort," "Oaks"). But I could easily rattle off 25 great songs by The National without reaching a closing track.

The French Dispatch
Wes Anderson
My take on the trailer for Wes Anderson's ASTEROID CITY is that THE FRENCH DISPATCH is very good. https://t.co/cv1bnwCSWl

Fight Club
Chuck Palahniuk
On last night's #CruelSummer, during a segment set in July 1999, the characters quote the "first rule" line from FIGHT CLUB, a movie that came out in October 1999, ZERO STARS. (Don't try to tell me they've read the book, there's no way these kids were reading Chuck Palahniuk.)

C'est La Vie
A. Writer's Plot
@parabasis I think the characters are reasonably well-defined (the plot, maybe not so much), but I'd argue that the main draws are the energy of the filmmaking and the intensity of the performances (in particular DiCaprio). C'est la vie.
