Dear artists: One of the best books I have ever read on art is D.H. Lawrence Studies in Classic American Literature.” Two best essays I’ve ever read on Whitman and Melville. By far. And amazing on Poe and Benjamin Franklin (who he loathes!!!!!). Whole thing is like 155-pages.
