Whatever you think of Bret Easton Ellis, it's a testament to his talent that he published Less Than Zero so young, became so insanely famous, and still went on to write American Psycho and Glamorama, two very serious, very literary novels. I would've been dead in a year.

Palo Alto by Malcolm Harris is a nonfiction horror story in which the monsters all win. Good stuff.

@catsonthecar I started reading The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes and he does a great job of showing just how far back the idea of "energy released by fission" originated in the opening chapters. Like all the way back in the late 1800s.

Just finished The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis. It's full of sex and violence and drugs and rich brats and creepy adults and painted over with that dark California mood. Drags a little in the middle but so do most of his novels. I'm glad Ellis hasn't given up on fiction.

@borgposting Ever read New York 2140 by Kim Stanley Robinson? His descriptions of "Post-Pulse" NYC (flooded boulevards, abandoned apartment buildings run by tenant unions, ect.) are begging for artistic renditions like the stuff you post...

@zeroanaphora Don't get me wrong: I'd love an eco-guerilla show that's well written and well shot. But until then, Mr Robot is probably about as radical as we'll. Plus, politics aside, it seems like Sam Esmail really wanted to keep the audience engaged...
