I finally borrowed the book from the library and found Higgs to be an excellent writer with perceptive observations on the Beatles and the changes they brought to 60s Britain. In 1973 #PaulMcCartney reviewed a #PaulSimon Song Book for Punch magazine. The book was rather big and heavy but he liked the rather serious tone of the book and Simon’s comments on his lyrics. Maybe McCartney was thinking about this book when he published Lyrics in 2021. https://t.co/13seNzqgLL

@K_M_Robinson @noiseresearch @Alm_dude I really have come to the conclusion that we should appreciate the music and not the musicians. I know it's hard to do that with the Beatles because so much of their popularity depends on their personalities. I recently read Bob Spitz' book on Led Zeppelin, a real case in point!
