I just read TJ Klune’s Wolfsong, and I’m still not sure what I thought of it. (Icky imprinting aside) I think there’s a better book hidden somewhere in there between the repetitiveness and angst. There’s also a LOT of trauma in it. This rerelease could have used an edit.

Still reading my way through The Atlas Six, and I’m really enjoying how it feels like several other books. There’s a little of Erin Morgenstern’s The Starless Sea, a little of Lev Grossman’s The Magicians, a hint of Leigh Bardugo’s Ninth House. But also still it’s own thing.

This is maybe a slight spoiler. I loved VE Schwab’s whole trilogy, but there’s a moment in A Conjuring of Light where it felt really unnecessary to rehash some previously touched on gay trauma.

One of the best compliments a bookseller can get is, “the book you recommended helped get me out of my reading slump.” In this case the book was The Bright and Breaking Sea by @chloeneill.

I love Olivie Blake’s books despite their flaws. Are The Atlas Six books overwritten and pretentious? Totally. I’d probably put them down if it was another author, but they’re so compelling. Was One For My Enemy bogged down by subplots? Absolutely? Did I still devour it? You bet!
