@NuanceMachine Delgado/Stefancic often accuse their critics of not backing up claims. But I just finished Jacob Mchangama's amazing "Free Speech", + D/S's book "Must We Defend Nazis." If you asked me which one is actually willing to empirically back up its claims, I would pick...not theirs.

@IonaItalia Not sure if you've read it or not, but David Goggins actually gets into this a little bit in Never Finished. He says he was called the n-word a lot as a kid. His white audiobook reader said he had a real problem reading that chapter aloud as written....

@amirzaki_artist Interesting! I assumed my experience and that of the people I knew was universal, I stand corrected. Your point reminds me of something I read from Ludwig von Mises, in Human Action (I believe). His idea was that if we do X, its because we wanted to do X more than anything else

And to be clear, I'm a Christian who's sympathetic to the pro-life side. But this is so very much NOT the way. Pro-lifers need to win hearts and minds. To extend grace to the other side. These bills do the opposite.
