King’s new short story collection exceeded my expectations...There is a true mix of stories in here (including a follow up to CUJO that freaked me all the way out) but it’s classic King in the best way. If his recent “crime novel era” of the last decade-ish has been hit or miss for you, you will LOVE the throwbacks to his classic style in You Like It Darker.

a short book that I found darkly funny and sad and so relatable with how a family (primarily the narrator) is coping with the last days of a best friend who is in hospice care for cancer... This doesn’t seem like it would be a hopeful start to the new year, but somehow it was.

Many (most? all?) of her books are about the same wide group of people... I just want to read about these people and their regular lives... I love reading a book...where not much happens and yet I feel so seen. When I read Elizabeth Strout, I understand more about the world.

Finished The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion for the second time (I read it originally when it was published in 2005). Wow what a book. So much here that I did NOT understand 17 years ago.
