The Federalist: A Commentary On The Constitution Of The United States. A Collection Of Essays, By Alexander Hamilton
Alexander Hamilton
Where was it in The Federalist Papers again where James Madison talked about sh*tposting? Or maybe it was Alexander Hamilton who wrote that part. I’m sure it found its way into the Constitution; maybe an originalist can help me out?

Star Wars: Thrawn Ascendancy (Book II: Greater Good)
Timothy Zahn
@newrepublic @mehdirhasan @DavidKlion Andor certainly deserves all of the praise it is receiving, but Knights of the Old Republic and Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn trilogy and many other Star Wars novels/comics are at least as smart. [End nerdy speech]

Gabby: A Story of Courage, Love, and Resilience
Gabrielle Giffords
@mehdirhasan The candidates deserve credit. John Fetterman ran an effective and inspiring economic populist campaign even after suffering a stroke. Mark Kelly is Gabby Giffords devoted husband AND a renowned astronaut. Hard to beat that bio.

Paul Stock
That’s not to suggest Donald Trump challenged capital. He was a phony populist who passed Paul Ryan’s tax cut for the rich. But he’ll have to work hard to make up for all the norms he broke in Nancy Pelosi’s “Temple of Democracy” (and stock trading).

Imagine: A Vision for Christians in the Arts
Steve Turner
@mattyraysolo I know. Wish we had kept Wheeler; have a feeling Steve Cohen would have paid. Imagine we had Daniel Murhpht (until retirement) Justin Turner, Thor and Wheeler. Would have made a difference. I’m conflicted on resigning DeGrom for a huge contract when he’s getting old/injury-prone

The Supreme Court
William H. Rehnquist
@thisAeon @Washhanger Absolutely. Above all, we can blame the Supreme Court for that. They basically appointed George W. Bush president. A preview of what was to come. John Roberts is even worse that William Rehnquist.

Ubu Roi: Drama in 5 Acts
Alfred Jarry
@legalmindedpunk Is that where Pere Ubu got their name? I know they adapted Alfred Jarry’s play Ubu Roi as an album in 2009, so seems plausible!

The Paranoid Style in American Politics
Richard Hofstadter
@DeperePeter @JoshuaBailor It has to do w/ anti-intellectualism and the “paranoid style in American politics” that historian Richard Hofstadter described. It’s not stupidity but an attitude. My scientific knowledge is minimal, but I don’t reflexively dismiss the scientific method/expertise/studies I read.

A New Hope: Star Wars: Episode IV
George Lucas
@MxShantastic The Jedi are quite Machiavellian and willing to do things like take children from their families, indoctrinate them/force them to commit to celibacy etc. George Lucas alludes to these darker themes in movies but they’re developed a lot more in books, RPG etc. Star Wars is dark.
