Don't by Carter Family CDs unless you're buying the (unfortunately very expensive) Bear Family complete box set. The individual CDs available rarely contain their best music.

The Cottingley Fairies, a series of five photographs taken by cousins Elsie Wright & Frances Griffiths between 1917 & 1920. I'm inclined to believe that the Mormon prophet, Joseph Smith, was initially a deliberate fraud (tho I can't make up my mind about it) but eventually believed he was a real prophet. This is essentially Fawn Brodie's thesis in No Man Knows My History.

Played a show with two other people last night, and one of them said, "I never read too much of Dante's Inferno, even though I studied English a lot." I think Dante would be the first to admit his English was pretty bad

People act like Oscar Wilde's "The Soul of Man Under Socialism" was an insignificant side project that never saw much circulation, but Wilde was actually a very serious socialist as much as he was anything, and it was widely circulated by anarchists.
