Book post: The Amur River by Colin Thubron. Read a TLS review of this the other week and it fascinated me. Traces the 3,000 km Amur River, which marks the border between NE China and Eastern Russia. Finished Aug 9 – Fog by Kathryn Scanlan, a reworking of a real diary bought in an estate sale – the diarist was 86 yo & wrote between 1968-72. Finished Rouse Up O Young Men of the New Age by Kenzaburo Oe, tr John Nathan, about Oe's life with his disabled son, Hikari. Heavily autobiographical, in which KO never flatters himself, it's nevertheless a testament to his love for his son. Possibly my favourite of his books. https://t.co/8z44aHEfF8
