@ptbrennan11 In any case, re: my criticism of a novel, in Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising the French aircraft carrier Foch is destroyed early on. I don't think Tom Clancy thought much of the French Navy but he mentioned it in a book about war in Europe because he was a good writer.
