All my favourite novels this year were gentle, nostalgic, full of yearning. I loved: ✨Diary of A Film by Niven Govinden (art, making things, good light) 🏊‍♀️The Swimmers by Julie Otsuka (pools, memory loss) 📚The Four Humors by Mina Seçkin (migratory hearts, illness, homes).

@drljshepherd @mariamtokhi This sounds like an *amazing,* necessary class. I recommend @gavinfranc's work, especially the latest book on recovery. Also: Audre Lorde's Cancer Journals, Leslie Jamison's Empathy Exams, Eula Biss' On Immunity, Paul Kalanithi's When Breath Becomes Air, Anne Boyer's The Undying.

@DrRChadwick wonderful! Lucky students. In a similar segment of my feminist theory class, we read bell hooks on theory (from Teaching to Transgress) alongside @drljshepherd (on writing selves and research as gendered intervention) and Eve Tuck on moving away from damage-centered narratives.
