@stephharmon Still Life by Sarah Winman is beautiful. Detransition Baby by Torrey Peters. The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. Also agree with the person who replied suggesting Curtis Sittenfeld - all of hers are great holiday reads.

I know it’s a book that really split people, but I’m about half way through Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam and I think it’s the most uncomfortable novel I’ve ever read. The sense of dread makes me want to crawl out of my own skin 😫
