The Ambassadors: 1
Henry JamesI feel as though Henry James would be pleased to know that my sophomores discussed Part 1 of Daisy Miller today, nearly 150 years after its composition. I'm less certain how he would feel about the students debating if Daisy is W Rizz. (We decided she is.)

Wolf Hall
Hilary MantelSad morning. Hilary Mantel showed me what historical fiction can be. The legend of Thomas More had been passed down, then cemented in A Man for All Seasons. In a few deft chapters about a secondary character, Wolf Hall undid all of that. If I think of More, I imagine Mantel's. https://t.co/Hm2B5ka1eg

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
Maya Angelou@heymrsbond It's language and not poetry specific, but I love the Miss Flowers excerpt from Angelou's "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," and given her career, it applies. I'll try to think of more directly related material.

The Palace Thief
Ethan Canin@TylerKoke1 I'd argue that Ethan Canin's story "The Palace Thief" does something like that. Narratives with its subject matter have such an expected arc; it defiantly travels along the ground. It cracks me up that the film adaptation couldn't tolerate the end and bent the tale into that arc.

The Man from the Train: Discovering America's Most Elusive Serial Killer
Bill James@_Rae_Knowles @DrunkScribe I'll have to look that case up! I got my wife (big historical murder fan) The Man from the Train by Bill James and Rachel McCarthy James at one point. They tried to identify murders similar to Villisca and examined train routes to develop a theory of the culprit.

Gwendy's Button Box: A Novella
Stephen King@cheesy2123 @Dewiwrites My point is that lesser-known public figures face more risk, but I'm not sure SK safeguards anything by paying. Some other King family named a kid Stephen: he self-pubs a novella. If verification is a paid add-on for all, can Twitter legally deny him a blue check?

In the Cage: Novella
Henry James@CharlieTheCole I've actually never seen the movie, but I love the Henry James novella. I teach it to 10th graders every year.
