Platform
Michel Houellebecq
@ann_manov Platform by Michel Houellebecq? Roberto Bolano, all of it, but best to start with By Night In Chile and the short stories in order to set yourself up for 2666 and The Savage Detectives. I spent a couple of years only reading Roberto Bolano. There's no replacement.

Left-Handed Woman
Peter Handke
@IonaItalia I'm sure there is no relation whatsoever, but The Left Handed Woman by Peter Handke is a fantastic book. As is My sisters Hand In Mine by Jane Bowles. So, tangent.

Get Up: A 12-Step Guide to Recovery for Misfits, Freaks, and Weirdos (Addiction Recovery and Al-Anon Self-Help Book)
Bucky Sinister
@grantadever @default_friend Great might be a stretch, but books I really like by authors I don't respect: Get Up by Bucky Sinister The Association of Small Bombs Carter Beats The Devil Valencia (an actually great book) Special mention season 1 of Girls

Chester Brown
@ann_manov By Night In Chile by Roberto Bolano, followed by four more Bolano books. The Orphan Master's Son byAdam Johnson Paying For It by Chester Brown The Left Handed Woman by Handke My favorite book might be Limonov by Emmanuel Carrere which I think you would love.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

@ResilientRei When Victor Hugo was asked if it was difficult writing The Hunchback of Notre Dame he responded, my dear it is either easy or it is impossible.

Human Smoke: The Beginnings of World War II, the End of Civilization
Nicholson Baker
@LingTolls @WeatherBrew You can read Nazi Literature in the Americas by Bolano. It's amazing. Or for an amazing alternative history from the left check out Human Smoke by Nicholson Baker, the most criminally underrated book I've ever read.

Best: Notebook
Best Ever
@JccWrites @ResilientRei This is a great point. If you ask for too much sellers might stop taking you seriously. There can be a real downside. The best deal I ever got came from someone I had been working with who trusted me and knew my word was good. Wrote out the deal on a scrap of notebook paper.

Exit West
Mohsin Hamid
@kmele You know, Mohsin Hamid is an amazing writer. Exit West might be the best novel ever written about immigration. I wouldn't judge this book based on a couple of click bait sentences. He's too good of a writer to just be dismissed that way.

Ham on Rye
Charles Bukowski
Women is the last Bukowski book anyone should read. It contains all of his best writing and much of his worst and has none of the narrative momentum of Post Office, Factotum, or Ham On Rye. But in many moments it’s his peak. https://t.co/2X0oawnwfD
