One of the factors which perhaps contributes to the strangeness of the scene is the inclusion of shadows. Hergé experimented with some similar shadows in “The Crab with the Golden Claws”, but they are rarley to be found in his work.

@joelmeadows1 @hawley_caroline The Casterman English translations were not long out out, but didn’t sell (which is what makes that copy of “Unicorn” so outstanding), and his visit to Hergé is less than a year after “King Ottokar’s Sceptre” finished in the “Eagle”, so it’s a very small window of interest.
