About the Author

Frederick Luis Aldama pertenece a una estirpe minúscula y hoy desaparecida de irlandeses (su abuelo) y guatemaltecos (su abuela), y en la composición de su genoma ocupa un lugar importante la presencia de latinx mexicanos porque su padre es mexicano. Su madre fue maestra bilingüe de primaria en California. Hoy en día, es titular de la Cátedra de Humanidades Jacob y Frances Sanger Mossiker en la Universidad de Texas en Austin. Es autor o editor de muchos libros, señaladamente Tales from la Vida: A Latinx Comics Anthology y Las aventuras de Chupacabra Charlie (The Adventures of Chupacabra Charlie). Frederick Luis Aldama is Irish Guatemalan and Mexican Latinx. His mamá was a bilingual elementary school teacher in California. Today he is the Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities at the University of Texas at Austin, where he studies and lifts up Latinx contributions to literature and popular culture as the founder and director of the Latinx Pop Lab. He is the author or editor of many books, including Tales from la Vida: A Latinx Comics Anthology and his first picture book, The Adventures of Chupacabra Charlie (also available as Las aventuras de Chupacabra Charlie). Nicky Rodriguez es una dibujante de cómics puertorriqueña y creadora de dos web cómics en curso, The Unlucky Ones and The Edge of Nowhere y The Smoke in the Mirror. Se metió en los cómics principalmente leyendo manga cuando era niña, siendo su favorito Inuyasha. Nicky le gusta usar los cómics para explorar su identidad y crear aventuras fantásticas. Estudió animación y cómics en California College of the Arts. Nicky Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican comic artist and the creator of two ongoing web comics, The Unlucky Ones and The Edge of Nowhere and The Smoke in the Mirror. She got into comics primarily through reading manga as a kid, with her favorite being Inuyasha. Nicky enjoys using comics to explore her identity and to create fantastical adventures. She studied animation and comics at California College of the Arts.
