24 April 1953. Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. He led Britain during the Second World War, but surprisingly lost the 1945 General Election. He became PM again in 1951. In 1955, he retired as PM but remained in Parliament until 1964. https://t.co/xDwO1Pa5nS
