@audreygidman It's very poetry-specific, but Stephen Dunn's Walking Light is great. The Art of series was helpful (Syntax, Attention, Recklessness for poetry; Perspective, Intimacy, Subtext for prose). Too many essays by poets to name, but Mullen, Mackey, Kearney, & Shockley come to mind.
