@OliverJia1014 People don’t want Indy to just have crazy chases and look for relics, but that these movies gave a semblance of a story, of journey, of progression for the character that reflect their lives in some way, much like Luke in the original Star Wars. 2/3

@Salerno_Thomas My mind tends to filter out bad books over time, but I think Lev Grossman's The Magician King makes me want to write a modern take on a Narnia story. Just haven't gotten around to it.

The 2018 adaptation of Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders was arguably a very dour, bleak telling of the story. A grimdark Poirot where everyone is miserable and even solving the mystery make them more miserable. To what point? Because dark=realistic.

@TFiredrake For me, active sounds strange if a book is written like a memoire. Active voice was used noticeably in the first part of 'The Bone Clocks' by David Mitchell, and some part of me kept wondering 'if this is first person, who is the protagonist narrating this to? Herself?

@hayesstw @GrahamDowns @ChristSpecFic Novels that fall closer to the Modern Fantasy genre that I have read would be most of Stephen King's more "out there" novels like Desperation, or Rose Madder, or Insomnia. These books are shelved under horror, but are particularly fantastical in nature. (Cont)

@bookswithzara The Samurai by Shusaku Endo is a heavily fictionalised book about an embassy by the Shogunate to the Vatican City in the late 1500's. Not an action story, but it does shed light on a forgotten chapter in Japanese history, as well as the tragic end for the ambassadors.
