For a spooky Halloween read, I recommend THE WOMAN IN WHITE by Wilkie Collins. This prime example of a sensation novel deals with the social anxieties of the Victorian era. It's also one of the first detective novels. It was a model for my MURDER AS A FINE ART. https://t.co/MBTcNGYV9d

@cravenrobert Thomas Tryon's THE OTHER is great also. He's usually linked with Ira Levin and William Peter Blatty as the horror trio in the 1960s-early 1970s who prepared the way Stephen King and Peter Straub. Before them were Block, Matheson and Finney.
