@joliebraun I am still learning, but was taught to hate Mabel for “butchering” Emily’s poems & meddling in the Dickinsons’ affairs. Julie Dobrow in After Emily (which I’m still reading) suggests many of the editorial changes were insisted on by Higginson, and that Mabel was close with E + V
