The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery
Eric Foner
@smith4colts @ClayJenkinson So much good stuff on TR! The Edmund Morris trilogy is a classic. The first is the best, but the one on the presidency is amazing too. If you haven't, I'd read *Field of Blood* by @jbf1755 on Congress before the Civil War. The Fiery Trial by Eric Foner is worth reading too.

Pride and Prejudice: World Classic Edition with pictures based on C.E. Brock's Original Water-colour Illustrations
Jane Austen
#OTD in 1815, Thomas Jefferson wrote to John Adams, "I cannot live without books." Perhaps the most relatable thing he's ever written. What books can't you live without? If my house was on fire and I could grab one book, I'd grab my grandmother's copy of Pride and Prejudice.

John Adams
David McCullough
Long before I was a historian or writing a book about John Adams, I read David McCullough. A tribute thread of sorts. /1 https://t.co/2Lk5SvuV4f

Pride and Prejudice: A NOVEL (VOL - I, II & III) - Master Volume
Rabbit &. Turtle
Last night I got three grown men, none of whom have read Jane Austen or watched the movies, to do a Pride and Prejudice puzzle with me. I'm not saying it's my greatest achievement, but it's definitely top 5.

The Weight of Ink
Rachel Kadish
Looking for a New Year's read? Highly recommend THE WEIGHT OF INK by @RachelSKadish. Full of historians, old documents, & strong female leads! One line especially just smacked me between the eyeballs & I haven't stopped thinking about it - the sign of a *really* good book. https://t.co/EQzZuCdHT2

My Day: The Best of Eleanor Roosevelt's Acclaimed Newspaper Columns, 1936-1962
Eleanor Roosevelt
From 1935 to 1962, Eleanor Roosevelt wrote a newspaper column, My Day. Until 1961, the column ran six days per week (which is bonkers). She often reflected on the presidency, like the post written #OTD in 1949. https://t.co/sRNhs2ODTE

Correspondence: 7
John Adams
In 1798, William Henry Harrison wrote to John Adams expressing his support for the administration during the XYZ Affair. I always associate Harrison with the antebellum period because of his presidency, so seeing that correspondence was a bit of a 🤯moment.
