And may I just say: The OUTPUT of Jacqueline Winspear! The first Maisie Dobbs book came out in 2003 & since then, she's written a 17-novel (so far!) series, 2 stand-alone novels, a memoir, & a journal-y type thing based on the series. And her research is DEEP. I cannot imagine.

(You should always read Kathryn Schulz because she's an absolutely gorgeous and gracious and compassionate and funny writer, and you should read Being Wrong in partic. because it'll change your whole relationship with the subject.)

(It came back to me, though - it's not like Stephen King and Cujo, which he says he loves but can't remember writing because he was ingesting so much coke at the time, though I wouldn't want to suggest it's as good as Cujo, but it is a lot shorter & not at all scary).

@SarahKingSings OKAY ALL RIGHT! Probably my favorite book ever (which seems bananas to say, because there are so many, AND YET) is Hild, by Nicola Griffith. And if you like it, she's about to publish the sequel, for which we've only been waiting a gajillion years!
