A #1 New York Times Bestseller
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis -- that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over forty years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm, but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside.
Silicon Valley's CA-17. New economic patriotism & restoring American manufacturing. Pro working families. Ending endless wars. No PAC $. He/Him.
I read Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance. I liked the book. But then he goes and publicly says offensive and hurtful things about the Afghan people. It’s un-American. If they were good enough to fight alongside us, they are good enough to live alongside us. https://t.co/qSoJrHmhF7

I regretfully agree with @RadioFreeTom analysis of @JDVance1 Like so many readers I was deeply moved by his Hillbilly Elegy. After seeing some of his recent appearances on conservative media I couldn't believe it was the same man. Course correction needed https://t.co/FaugxKAcAG
Was: writer, librarian / Now: social justice comms / Always: huge nerd. I know I was born & I know that I'll die; the in-between is mine. Emily, not Em. She/her
As JD Vance continues to trade on whatever lies he's peddling today, may I recommend this book: Appalachian Reckoning: A Region Responds to Hillbilly Elegy: https://t.co/fvWJG0PNMY & this essay by @Meredith_McC (who also coedited the book ⬆️) https://t.co/axtgzVGNJH
