The Inheritors is a novel by William Golding that explores the conflict between two different groups of early humans, the Neanderthals and the Homo sapiens. The story follows the Neanderthal family of Lok, Fa, and their children as they live a simple life in the forest, hunting and gathering for food. However, their peaceful existence is disrupted when a group of Homo sapiens arrive on the scene, and the two groups struggle to communicate and understand each other's ways of life. The Homo sapiens are portrayed as more advanced and intelligent, but also more violent and destructive, while the Neanderthals are more in tune with nature and their environment. As the two groups clash, the novel explores themes of evolution, language, and the nature of humanity.
