@YesWombat Hardy’s poems I revere — some of the finest verse ever penned — but the novels I find less appealing as I get older (sharing Hardy’s own opinion here I fear). Hope this will change as I get even older…

At Harvard, but not OF Harvard, writes abt the 18th & 19th centuries & abt books, their reading, & sometimes non-reading. At the OTHER sites w/ same handle

@PhDhurtBrain So if you are open to considering a very long 19c, please know that the students in my sophomore level “literary forms” class were blown away by Hardy’s Poems of 1912-13. They are as a set so formally various that they make all sorts of lessons about prosody possible .
